Claeys Makes SOS Run Official in Salina

Salina, Kans. -- J.R. Claeys, Republican candidate for Kansas Secretary of State, officially filed for the office today at the Secretary of State's office in Topeka after completing the filing paperwork at the county clerk's office in his hometown of Salina.
Claeys is an international elections observer who has worked to prevent voter fraud through the use of voter identification and registration security procedures in countries recovering from civil war and grappling with voter fraud.
"I've seen the impact of these policies on the ground," said Claeys. "I've verified vote counts for accuracy, implemented voter identification programs and advised elections commissions on ways to improve voter security and access."

Claeys has spent his entire adult life advocating for small businesses as the CEO of a national business trade association and working with the Small Business Administration.
"Working for business advocacy groups and the SBA I've had the privilege of fighting for paperwork reduction, regulatory reform and tax relief for small businesses across America," said Claeys. "Kansans want a secretary of state who understands the needs of small business and will keep the office efficient and out of their way as we work to turn this economy around."
Claeys is currently campaigning across the state, promoting his message of cutting red tape for small businesses and running fair and secure elections for Kansas with stops in Salina, Manhattan, Topeka, Overland Park, Leavenworth, Wichita, Hutchinson, Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, Hays, and Pittsburg.

J.R. Claeys is a fifth-generation Kansan born and raised in Salina, Kans. He is seeking the Republican nomination for Kansas Secretary of State in the primary election on August 3, 2010.
